When All Else Fails - Windows Re-Installation

Picture this: You've been using your computer now for just over 2 years, and everything has been relatively trouble free thus far. One morning you come to your computer, and find that the moment you start the PC up, and log on - you receive a blue screen of death. Clearly, a ghost played a game with your computer during the night, and this morning it is completely useless.

This is a typical story - and happens a surprising number of times each day! Of course, we all know better than to blame it on computer ghosts, as there is no such thing. So what actually was it that caused the computer to suddenly cease up and fail to function in its normal manner? 9 times out of 10, it is due to the user being negligent, and not taking proper care of the inner workings of the computer.

If you are wondering which part of the computer you should be looking out for - we will tell you. It's the registry. Unlike other parts of the computer which store information and then recall it when necessary - the registry keeps important and vital files open in real time so that the computer can access these whenever it wants to.

For example, say that you are using an internet browser as you are probably doing now. The registry is currently packed with informational files telling your computer how it should react if you take action inside of the browser.

So What's All The Fuss About?

So far, the registry seems like a fairly standard and self sufficient part of the computer. Indeed, it should be like this - however we all know that in reality, things just aren't as they may seem on paper. The real story with the registry is that sometimes, things are "registered" when they shouldn't be, and some things aren't registered at all. You could describe this situation as being a bit of a confusing one. Sometimes, the registry does things correctly - but other times it doesn't.

If things go extremely wrong - ie. keys start to get stuck - and you are caught without a registry cleaning program, the only option left may indeed be to completely reinstall the windows operating system - at a cost of all your files, programs, and personalized features.
